My latest group of paintings are a semi-abstract take on landscape and space, examining how nature can both calm and energize us. The pace of life changes in my native garden, a spot full of activity on a different scale. Up close, everything seems busy, always moving and constantly evolving. Yet stepping back, there is calm in the broader drifts of colorful and collective sway of plants. Similarly in my paintings, I hope to mimic the vitality of the garden: the “active” through the energetic act of creating brushstrokes and “calm,” through the final composition of repeated colors and forms.
